Smell the breeze

Snap, click, thump, goes the twigs and leaves underneath my sore feet. I look around me and see the shadows of huge, great, amazing, pine trees. I love the smell of pine, it reminds me of my old boyfriend, from back at home, before i had to leave. But I realize that there is something else in the air too. I strain my eyes and look around for the source of the smell, only to realize that the woods are a dark, thick, pitch, black now. The quite hum of the city, and the static of everyone going along with their little daily lives has died down almost to a complete silence. All of a sudden I realize that i recognize the intruding smell. The smell of warm breakfasts and of celebratory afternoons. The smell of doughnuts. I carefully make my way out of the forest and into the once busy streets of Finch Pointe. The mist is rising but is still very prominent and thick, blocking my veiw to a few feet in front of me, it doesn't help that the power is out in the whole city except for the doughnut shop. I see a shadow of a character appear in my field of vision. He is going to kill you. The voices say."NO!" I scream out loud to no one in particular. The voices, they aren't real, not real, not real, not real. I say to myself over and over again, clenching my eyes shut. All of a sudden I feel a firm grip on my shoulder and slowly open my eyes and turn to face them. "You okay?" they say. I see who it is better now, its just Vivian Johnson, my old housemate. We talk some and I invite him to the doughnut shop for some coffee and doughnuts. "My treat" I tell him.
